Police arrests suspected kidnappers of BEKS workers, recovers 1.45m with other exhibits

The Bayelsa State Police Command has arrested some of the suspected kidnappers of BEKS Ltd, and SIDOM Ltd workers who were abducted on recently in Opuama Community in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area.
While briefing newsmen on the outcome of the arrest of the Dare Devil Kidnap Gang at the State Police Headquarters, Commissioner of Police, Hilary Opara stated that the suspects had already received the sum of N6m from the companies who had gone ahead to pay for the release of the 5 kidnapped workers without informing the police.
The Police Boss revealed that they had recovered about N1.45m from the suspected kidnappers.
Also recovered from the suspected kidnappers were a freezer, a generator and an LG television set.
He also stated that the police were on the trail of the other suspected kidnappers who ran away during the raid.
According to our correspondent, other suspects were involved in other criminal activities including pipeline vandalization, production of fake naira notes, attempt to purchase pistol and kidnapping were also paraded.
CP Opara said that the arrest of the suspects should send a clear signal to those into criminal activities in the state that no effort will be spared in the fight against crime.
