Peoples’ Democratic Party(PDP) House of Representatives aspirant for Warri Federal Constituency, Ada Val Areyenka, Esq, has assured the three ethnic groups of Urhobos, Itsekiris, Ijaws and resident non Deltans in the area to sustain the existing prevailing peace to usher in more development in the area just as he assured the people of collaborating with relevant governmental and non- governmental stakeholders to enable them have their fair share of democracy dividends if given the opportunity to represent the area in Abuja come 2015.
Areyenka gave this assurance when he led his supporters and other hundreds of PDP faithfuls to formally inform the Urhobos of Warri at the home of Chief Emmanuel Okumagba, a foremost political leader in the area, he said that the three ethnic groups would be given their fair share of any opportunity that comes up as well as be given equal treatment by him if given the mandate promising that he would build upon the reconciliatory roles he had been known for in the area with a view towards further cementing the bond that had existed between them.
Areyenka disclosed that since the commencement of this current political dispensation in 1999, Warri North and Warri South West Local Government Areas have each had its’ fair share of producing the House of Representatives member for the Warri Federal Constituency seat
adding that in the spirit of fairness and equity, it should now be the turn of Warri South Local Government Area to produce the member to represent the area in the House of Representatives, adding that it is based on this coupled with the fact that he is qualified, hence he has put himself forward to be sent by the people to give them good representation.
According to Areyenka, “in the spirit of fairness, equity and justice, let our brothers and sisters from our other two sister local governments of Warri North and Warri South West throw their weight behind us in Warri South to produce the next member that would represent our Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, and the person to go on this message should be me if my people would be kind to give me their mandate hence I have put myself forward to be
sent on this errand. I know that with your cooperation and support the mission would be accomplished to enable us reap more dividends of democracy.”
Responding, Chief Emmanuel Okumagba commended Areyenka for deeming it necessary to consult and formally notify them of his ambition, he said that they (Warri Urhobos) would meet to brainstorm over him and other aspirants that may come up later before the general elections to see whether anyone would surpass the pedigree of Areyenka.
According to Chief Okumagba, “Warri is a unique place, it stands on a tripod with three legs of Urhobos, Itsekiris and Ijaws. A tripod cannot stand with two legs, so I want to advice that the two “Is” of Itsekiris and Ijaws should not swallow the “U” (Urhobos). Let’s remain united, let’s carry one another along. I plead that when given the mandate don’t forget any leg of the tripod as has once or twice been the case so that posterity can judge you well.”
Also speaking, Olorogun Victor Okumagba said that he who seeks equity must come with clean hands nothing that if given the opportunity to represent the area in the House of Representatives, Areyenka should give the Urhobos in the area fair and just treatment, he added, “we have traveled this road before, please when you get the mandate, accord us our due recognition, we are not second class citizens.”
On a final note, Areyenka expressed appreciation to the people for their show of solidarity and support, he said that he had always thread the path of fairness, equity and justice adding that it is not now that he would depart from it promising that if given the mandate, he would ensure that all gets due equal and fair share that would no doubt move the Federal Constituency to the next level.
