POSTPONING POLLS IS CALL TO ANARCHY- OBA OF BENIN
BY: Eben Enasco Kingsley, Benin
The Benin Monarch, Oba Erediauwa (CFR) has warned those calling for the postponement of the forth coming general elections to rethink as that could stimulate chaos and anarchy.
The Oba who spoke through the Benin Forum, an umbrella of all Edo Nations at home and in Diaspora, ably led by the Esogban of Benin kingdom, Chief David Edebiri also predicted that the election will be peaceful, but urged supporters of both party candidates to stop utterances capable of creating tension in the country.
In a statement, signed by Edebiri and General Secretary of the Forum, Barr. Henry Ogbodu (SAN), admonished the Benin in Edo South to ensure that they pick their PVCs to ensure they participate and vote candidates of the own choice, asserting that, the Edo people as a race, “can no longer afford to play a second fiddle in country.”
However, the Forum frowned at the activities of few anti-democratic elements who recently called for the shifting of the elections to a future date while citing the organization distribution of the PVCs as a reason for such a mischievous call
The Forum emphatically called on the relevant authorities to ignore the unpatriotic suggestion which to all intents and purposes is a direct invitation to chaos and anarchy. “The election must hold in February 2015 as scheduled to save our nascent democracy “he echoed.
