The Bayelsa State police command has vowed to fish out the killers of a woman identified as Lydia David who was beheaded by unknown men.

Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Azikoro Division, Fidelis Odunna, Told Our correspondent that the headless body of the woman was found in the bush near Bayelsa palm Estate.

According to DSP Odunna, the eldest son of the deceased, Junior David said on the fateful day their mother left at about 3 pm for the bush to set fish traps in the swamp near Bayelsa Palms.

Junior further disclosed that under normal circumstances his mother was supposed to return by 6 pm but strangely, he said, about 8pm shenwas yet to return which aroused suspicion.

He said his father raised an alarm and a search party was mobilized to the bush where the deceased was believed to have gone to set her traps.

Horribly, he said a headless body was found lying. He explained that, after the discovery the matter was reported to the police who came to remove the body and deposited it at the morgue of the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Yenagoa.

Our Correspondent checks indicated that the deceased was a mother of five children and an indigene of Ugheli, in Delta State, but settled in Azikoro Village ten years ago for small scale fishing activities.

Commenting on the unfortunate development, the husband of the deceased, Mr. David lamented how horribly his wife was murdered and called on law enforcement agents to fish out the perpetrators of the ignoble act.

He said the incident has devastated his family as their helpless children will have to contend with the harsh conditions associated with motherless children.

He said he would try everything humanly possible to carter for them within the limits of his ability as a father, stressing that God would in His infinite mercy provide the resources to feed and train them.
