Warri Area Command promises to support PCRC
The Warri Area Commander, Delta state, Mr. Abubakar Argungu has promised to support the state Police Public Relations Committee (PCRC).
Argugun made this promise when the new executive members of Warri Area Command Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) was inaugurated.
The Warri Area Commander urged the PCRC to continue to support the police to keep peace and maintain law and order.
He told them to always support the police in crime prevention and control, adding that the PCRC has done well.
Argungu said that the Command would do its best to give the necessary support to the PCRC to serve the Command and the people better.
He assured he would continue to work in tandem with the Delta State Commissioner of Police strategy to keep peace and maintain law and order.
Comrade Chris Otumu who emerged as the new Chairman of PCRC Warri Area Command after a keenly contested election was sworn-in with other executive members.
In his acceptance speech, Comrade Otumu said that they (PCRC) would have regular meetings to enable them perform better and improve on their service to the Police and Community.
He said he was the immediate past Chairman of PCRC B’ Division Warri and he did his best, assuring that he would do more as the Area Command PCRC Chairman.
Comrade Otumu noted that the new executive will commence in February, 2021. He commended the ACP Argungu for his understanding and support and promised to work with him and the Delta State Chairman of PCRC in a harmonious relationship.
Those sworn-in with Comrade Otumu are Mallam Ikhiyo Omoba, vice chairman, Hon. Ogigi Clinton, secretary, Comrade Efeoghene Nosa Uzebu, treasurer, Ms. Maryam Shaibu, financial secretary, Prince Babatunde Odulaja, P.R.O, Engr. Scott Agbaivwie, provost and Hon. Philip Eyeye, Assistant secretary.
In his keynote address, the Delta State Chairman of PCRC, Marshall Prosper Ojoh urged the new executive to be firm and committed to their duty, adding that they should regard themselves as voluntary service men and as a call to serve the people.
Marshal Ojoh told the newly sworn-in executive that communication remains a very important aspect of their duty and they should communicate very well.
According to him “You sacrifice your time and even your resources to serve the people. Units of Community Policing (Civil Defence) have been endorsed by the Delta State Commissioner of Police and they will operate under a Police Division”.
Marshal Ojoh thanked the incumbent Area Commander for his unflinching devotion to the worthy course and endless support to the PCRC in the Command and urged him to give the same support and love to the new executive.
He disclosed that the Police Community Relations Committee was formed out of necessity by the late IGP Etim Inyang in 1984 to bridge the gap between the general public and the Nigeria Police.
