Governor Uduaghan Appeals to Traders, citizens to keep city clean

The Delta State Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan has appealed to traders and citizens of Delta state to always keep their environment clean, saying that the junction improvement work of the state has shown that the state was committed to keeping it environment clean.
Governor Uduaghan made this appeal during the commissioning ceremony of the junction improvement works projects at Enerhen Junction, Enerhen Road and Enerhen Motel Junction.
He thanked the Uvwie monarch and his people for cooperating with the state government during the reconstruction of the junction, appealing to other communities to also cooperate with them in their quest to make other parts of Delta to be as beautiful as the new reconstructed Enerhen Junction.
He told the mammoth crowd who came to witness the commissioning of the junction that the state government was going to construct a flyover at the popular Effurun Roundabout to decongest traffic in the area.
“We are not stopping here, we are still going to other parts; Japka junction, Hausa quarters and of cause we all know what we are trying to do at the Effurun junction. There is going to be a flyover. We have awarded the contract and the contractor will be on site within the next few weeks. All these things we are doing are part of our urban renewal,” he said.
The Governor added that since the reconstruction of the Enerhen Junction which used to be a den of armed robbers and haven for all sort of criminal activities, the junction has now been turned into a safe place for all .
He said; “For most of us who knew how this place was, was a breading place for criminals, pick pockets and other vices. But today in line with Delta State Urban renewal programme, it has not only taken place of the traffic congestion that used to be here, but also dealing with the security problem that used to be here.”
Earlier the Commissioner for Special Duties, Special Infrastructure, Dam Orezi Esievo revealed that the government approved the execution of the Junction Improvement Works in Asaba and Warri/Effurun metropolis at the cost of over N3.1billion.
She said the main objective of the work was to decongest the selected junctions and to promote free flow of traffic in them thereby enhancing economic and social activities in both cities.
Dame Esievo also thank Governor Uduaghan for his vision and for the support given to the Directorate of Special Infrastructure in executing the project.
