The Ijaw Youth Council has rained heavy knocks on President Mohammadu Buhari on his recent lists of ministers designate recently released by the Senate, saying that he has wasted four months in office by bringing back recycled politicians who were disgruntled former members of PDP.

President Mohammadu Buhari

The group stated this in a press statement signed by its Spokesman, Barr. Eric Omare and made available to National Reformer.

IYC stressed that contrary to the impression created by the Buhari led federal government that the Ministers would be agents of change and mainly distinguished technocrats, the IYC is disappointed that most of the persons nominated by Buhari are recycled politicians and mostly disgruntled former members of the PDP.”

The group said they werd disappointed that persons with allegations of corruption pending before anti-graft agencies and are under investigations were nominated, noting that it is an obvious compromise on the anti-corruption war and confirmation of the allegation that the Buharis anti-graft war is selective.

The group said: The IYC agrees with the position of those who asserted that with the people submitted as Ministers, the list ought to have been submitted at the eagle square on the 29th of May, 2015 during the inauguration instead of wasting four months of precious national time selecting people that are already known to everybody as financers of President Buhari.

“We strongly disagree with the view that the late submission of handover note by the former administration and the need to re-organize Ministries accounted for the delay in submission of the Ministerial list. It is common knowledge that no matter the re-organization, there are key Ministries such as Justice, Finance, Public Infrastructures and others that would still be sustained and President Buhari ought to have appointed Ministers into those Ministries to form a cabinet and move the nation forward in the past four months instead of the one man show which has cost the nation a fortune in economic terms.

To the IYC, with the quality of people nominated as Ministers, the promised change is a mirage as these yesterday men and women cannot be the new Nigeria that was promised Nigerians by President Buhari.”
