As the race for who succeeds Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State at Dennis osadebe avenue gets tougher and closer, a Governorship hopeful, professor Pedro Agbonghifo Obaseki has declared that he is the new Broom-political-evangelist the people need to bring back the values of Edo Nation.

Professor Pedro Agbonghifo Obaseki

Prof. Obaseki fondly called Don Pedro, in his hay- days in entertainment world, stated this at his residence in Benin City to newsmen while indicating interest to veer for Oshiomhole’s seat under the platform of the All Progressive congress, APC for the 2016 gubernatorial elections in Edo State. Relatedly, over eight aspirants has so far allegedly indicated interest under the platform of APC

The popular film maker cum play write, whom film branded Igodo won all awards at the National film award in the year 2000,  pointed out that the only way to make a change is to be close to the change itself; adding that it has reached a boiling point where those whose visions are not all encompassing should not be saddled with the lofty responsibilities of the future our children and the good people of the state.

According to him, “I want to become the governor when Oshiomhole hands in the baton at the end of his tenure. I want to bring back the values of Edo people. Oshiomhole is the moses of our time who took us across the red sea and i want to be the Joshua that will take us to the promise land. Bad men rules because the Good ones don’t get involve. I want to celebrate the humanity in Edo people whether you are from Etsako, Esan, Bini, Okpekpe,is not relevant. i will practice an inclusive governance when i become the governor of the state.

Not done, the multi-talented Aspirant was however saddened on the avalanche of contestant with poor vision who do not have the verve to genuinely take our people to the promise land; asserting that for anyone to do exploit, the need for political gains should be devoid and people oriented objectives should be the cardinal point.

“I am a political evangelist. I am not jobless. I am not seeking political office for gains . I am a clone of Oshiomhole. it is time to move the state forward. The Edo State of sixteen-year ago is quite different from that of eight-year ago and of  today. so i felt someone of vigor and integrity like me is urgently needed to continue from where oshiomhole stops. i think for that work to continue that truly reflect the capacity of the metal resources of the state, you need someone of proper education,up-bring, and who knows the landscape as well. And after due consultations with my family which is a very large one come to terms to take it to another level.

Prof. Obaseki however, disclosed the motives why his contesting as in sync with the acronym EDO which he described as tripod letters; Empowerment,Development, and Opportunity, adding that when properly guided will reduce by default criminal activities.
