Preparations for the 15th Biennial Police Games (BIPOGA 2026) gathered momentum in Asaba, Delta State, as the Local Organising Committee (LOC) held a two-day strategic conference and conducted an inspection of designated sporting facilities ahead of the games.
The conference, which took place from Friday, January 16 to Saturday, January 17, 2026, was part of efforts to fine-tune plans for the Nigeria Police Games scheduled to hold from February 7 to February 14, 2026, in Asaba. The event carries the theme, “Beyond the Badge: Excellence in Action.”
Leading the exercise was the Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Fom Pam Joseph, Chairman of the Force Sports Planning Committee. He said the conference was convened to strengthen operational planning, logistics, and inter-agency coordination to ensure the successful hosting of the biennial sporting festival.
Senior officers of the Nigeria Police Force were in attendance, including AIG Suleiman Abdul, CP Dantawaye Miller, CP Hassan Gwani, CP Osifo Emefiele, and the Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Aina Adesola, alongside other members of the Local Organising Committee.
Key areas discussed during the conference included venue readiness, security arrangements, accommodation, transportation, medical services, and overall logistics. Participants emphasised the need for a seamless, safe, and professionally coordinated event that would meet national standards and reflect positively on the Nigeria Police Force.
Following the conference, the committee embarked on an inspection tour of the sporting facilities earmarked for the games. The inspection focused on infrastructure quality, safety standards, logistics support, and the general suitability of the venues for athletes and officials expected from police commands and formations across the country.
The Local Organising Committee expressed confidence in the level of preparedness so far and reaffirmed its commitment to delivering a successful and memorable BIPOGA 2026. Members of the public were also assured that preparations are progressing steadily to guarantee a safe, orderly, and hitch-free sporting event in Asaba.
