BAYELSA SET TO HONOUR ISSAC BORO ***Remains of the late icon to be laid to rest

The Bayelsa Sate government has released the programme of activities for the 2014 anniversary of late Major Isaac Adaka Boro.
Reeling out the programme of activities while addressing newsmen, the Commissioner for Culture and Ijaw National Affairs, Dr. Felix Tuodolo, disclosed that the celebration will kick-off on Sunday, May 11-14 at Kaiama, with cultural displays,, football matches, beauty peasant and seminar.
According to Dr Tuodolo, there will be an arts exhibition, cultural street floats and commissioning of Isaac Boro Mausoleum at Boro town and Yenagoa on May 15, stating that this year celebration will be more than last year because the remains of the late icon will be laid to rest on May 16, in Ijaw National Hero’s Park in Yenagoa.
He said that there will be a music concert and award night in the evening the same day where renowned music icons will be invited to entertain guest.
Dr. Tuodolo said, “Major Isaac Adaka Boro was one of the Nigeria finest crime fighters as a police officer, educationist activist, nationalist and unifier who died during the civil war fighting for the unity and peace of Nigeria. He is one of the pioneers for minority rights activist and foremost campaigner for resource control in Nigeria”.
He therefore called on all organizations, sons and daughters of the Niger Delta, and the general public to celebrate the Hero.
The celebration will be rounded off on Saturday May 17, with a colloquium titled, “Isaac Boro Comes homes” to be delivered by Martin Luther King 111 and Rt. Hon. Lord Paul Boateng from USA and UK respectively
He said cultural performances and anniversary banquet will be part of the round off in the state government house banquet hall in Yenagoa.
