Hundreds of lawyers, who protested to Sapele police station, carrying placards with inscriptions, “free Barr. Dudu, ‘Kidnapping is wrong and evil’, ‘Stop the kidnapping and release our colleagues”, the lawyers appealed to the Nigerian police to swing into action and trap the kidnappers.

Speaking on behalf of the protesting lawyers, Barr. Gabriel Ekerewe, Sapele NBA Chairman, stated that Barr. Desmond S. Dudu was kidnapped on Sunday but the news got to them on Monday hence the court obliged them by not seating. “We are highly irritated with the kidnap of our colleague, Barr. Desmond S. Dudu and therefore use this medium to appeal to the kidnappers to release him person unconditionally”.
While commending the Nigerian police for their good job in combating crime and other criminal vices in the area, the Sapele NBA chairman urged the police to put more effort to shape up their activities in ensuring that their colleagues are freed.
In response, the Divisional Police Officer, C.S.P. Mammah Sale Rijau, while expressing sympathy at the incident, told them to be patient as the Nigeria Police are on top of the gear and doing their best to ensure that the kidnapers are trapped.
He told the lawyers to advise family of the kidnapped lawyer not to negotiate with the kidnappers but immediately notify the police if any information.
