Technical education has been described as the bedrock of societal growth and its establishment cannot be over emphasized, especially in Bayelsa State and Nigeria at large, says Mr. James Jato.

Speaking to journalists in his office, the proprietor Jato Technical College, Mr. Jato said in re-directing the attention of youths from anti-social vices, the youths have to venture into skill acquisition and become employers of labour.

The principal of Jato Technical College, Dr. Vincent J. Ezetu in his remark said admission is
on going in the following courses such as Air Conditioning and Refrigeration, Auto Mobile and Motor Vehicle Maintenance, Carpentry and Joinery, Computer installation and maintenance, Electrical Installation and Maintenance work, Brick/Block laying and concrete/Building, Radio and Television Maintenance work, Painting and Pipe-fitting, Fabrication and Welding.

He also said that National Business Certificate (N.B.C) and Advance National Business
Certificate (A.N.B.C) courses exist, which include; business management, computer Craft Studies and Operation, Typing and Shorthand, Financial Management and among others.

Dr. Ezetu further said duration of courses will take three years for candidates who will be
admitted to pursue National Technical Certificates (N.T.C) and National Business Certificates (N.B.C.)

Also, Advance Courses candidates who will register for Advance National Technical Certificate (ANTC) and Advance National Business Certificate (ANBC) respectively will use only two academic years for their studies.

He further highlighted the admission requirement for various courses, saying that candidates applying for NTC and NBC courses will be required to have Basic Education Certificate or Junior School Certificate, SS1 –SS3 Promotion Examination Result, Must pass the school entrance examination.

Dr. Ezetu said, the school entrance examination will be conducted on Saturday 25th of January, 2014. He tasks parents, guidance and philanthropists to send their wards or children to Jato Technical College for a qualitative living in the society after graduation.

Dr. Ezetu said candidates seeking admission into the Advance Certificate ANTC and ANBC will be required to have either WASC or NECO Certificates. Possession of NTC or NBC will be added advantage. He used the medium to appeal to prospecting students to pay Two Thousand Five Hundred Naira only for NTC courses while those applying ANTC and ANBC are to pay application fee of Three Thousand Naira Only, or contact the principal of Jato Technical College in the school for details.

Dr. Vincent Ezetu stressed the importance of Technical Education in Nation Building, noting that youths in Bayelsa State should not be left out in acquiring skills.
