Itsekiri youths have dissolved the executive of the Itsekiri National Youth Council (INYC) and have set up a new interim committee to pilot the affairs of  the INYC.

The Committee has Mr. Shola Jakpa as Chairman, Barrister Toju Cynthia Ayalaju, as secretary with a mandate to set a date for election and come out with a new constitution. Others are; Mr. Oritseweyemi Eyitan, Mr. Awani and Mr. Afejuku Henry as members.

Speaking shortly after the inauguration in Warri, Delta State, the chairman promised that the committee will serve the interest of the itsekiri nation and praised the efforts of Olu of Warri for his reign of peace in Iwere Kingdom.

He said committee will work out modalities for a proper election to elect executive members of INYC.

The Chairman of the occasion, Mr. Godwin Toritseju Omanogho,  charged members of the committee to live above board and carry everybody along.

The converner of the meeting, Mr. Esimaje Awani said that; “time to do away with self-imposed leaders is over. No more exploitation of the people. We need development, peace and transformation of Iwere Kingdom. We should celebrate merit and shun backstabbing. We should not enslave ourselves to others for things that belong to all of us.”

The Secretary of the committee, Barrister Ayalaju said that;”Today marked a new era in the live of Itsekiri youths. We should stand for unity of the land and the marginalization of itsekiris most stop. The voice of the Itsekiris must be heard and we must resolved to work hard.

High point of the ceremony was the official commissioning of the INYC Secretariat located at plot 46 Mabiaku Link Road, GRA, Warri by the Special Guest of honour, Mr. Monday Omagbemi.

It would be recalled that the dissolved INYC Executive was headed by Mr. David Tonwe.
