Oborevwori Presents Staff of Office to Orogun Monarch

Traditional rulers in Delta State have been called upon to uphold the fear of God and place the interest of their people above all other considerations.
This call was made by Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, Governor of Delta State during the official presentation of Staff of Office to His Royal Majesty, Omoefe Ozenikpe 1, the Okpara-Uku of Orogun Kingdom in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State.
The governor who was represented by Sir Monday Onyeme, Deputy Governor of Delta State congratulated the king and the people of Orogun for the peace and smooth ascension process.
According to Rt. Hon.Oborevwori, “I warmly congratulate His Royal Majesty for the smooth ascension to the royal stool of your ancestors.
“I also felicitate with the people of Orogun kingdom for their cooperation, understanding and contributions which helped to make today’s event the success it has become.
“Please ensure that in everything you do and in every decision you take, the interest of your people and above all, the fear of God is placed above all other consideration.
“I appeal to you to encourage free flow of communication, dialogue and consultation with all segment of your kingdom; I also urge you to be transparent while upholding at all times the virtues of justice, fair play and equity in all your dealings with your subjects.”
The governor further urged traditional rulers to ensure peaceful reign in their kingdoms, saying that any threat to peace should be reported to security agencies for peace to reign at all times in the kingdoms, just as he urged the people to accord the King the needed respect and the honour that he truly deserves.
He added, “you should ensure that peace reigns supreme in your kingdom; any threat to peace should be reported to security agencies and the local government council.
‘I urge you to encourage youths in this kingdom to get involved in productive and sustainable development activities while according all constituted authorities the respect they truly deserve.”
The governor commended the people for their support and promised that their request on developmental needs would be considered with the desired attention.
Earlier in his address, Chief Godwin Adode, Chairman, Ughelli North Local Government said that the people of Orogun Kingdom and the entire Ughelli North were ready to work hand in hand to support the M-O-R-E agenda of the Oborevwori administration.
He described Orogun people as peace loving, who followed due process in the selection of the Okpara-Uku.
Also speaking, Chief Benson Ndakara, President General of Orogun Kingdom said that the people were pleased with the recognition given to the kingdom through the presentation of Staff of Office to their king.
Chief Ndakara, a lawyer said that Orogun kingdom was among the kingdoms that contributes to the nation”s purse through oil production.
He added, “like Oliver Twist, we want to implore the government to complete all ongoing and uncompleted projects as well as site more people oriented projects in the Kingdom.”
The President General listed the projects to include Aragba–Ebor, Obodeti–Otorho Orogun, a 7km Road, Orogun–Emevor Road, Orogun–Owhelogbo Road, renovation of the Community Centre, presentation of official car by Government among others.
