All Governor Oborevwori Projects Will Outlive Our Generation – CPS Ahon

Sir Festus Ahon, Chief Press Secretary to the Delta State governor, has said that the projects that the Governor is currently executing across the state are projects that
will outlive this generation.
Ahon who disclosed this during a speech on Christmas day, Thursday December 25, 2025 when the Exco of the state council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) paid him a courtesy visit at his country home of Ughelli, headquarters of the Ughelli North Local Government Area of the state. He
He noted that; “the governor has done more in two years than what other governors have done in eight years even in other states. The projects we are doing are projects that will stand the test of time; projects that will outlive our generation. We must give Deltans value. The governor will not compromise the welfare of Deltans and in all the projects he is doing, there is no borrowing.”
The Governor’s Spokesman further stated that the Sheriff Oborevwori-led administration in the state would not compromise the welfare of Deltans in spite of the numerous work that need to be done to move the state forward, pointing out that the state government sees the welfare and the wellbeing of the people of the state as a priority.
He explained that the capital projects and other welfare packages being embarked upon by the state government are testaments to the fact that the governor means well for the state.
The CPS who thanked the NUJ state Exco for the visit also solicited the NUJ’s support for the state government for the promotion of peace and smooth governance in the state even as he gave assurance of continued support for journalists in the state. He noted that it is in the atmosphere of peace and harmony that more progress can be made.
Said he: “We will continue to make efforts to improve the lots of journalists in the state. My Principal, the governor, is not somebody that is not media-friendly. We need your continued support for the government. When there is peace, more progress can be made.”
Speaking earlier, the chairman of the state NUJ council who led the team of Exco from Asaba, the state capital, for the visit, Comrd Churchill Oyowe, said that they came on behalf of the NUJ in the state to express the Union’s appreciation to the CPS for the great improvement in his support for journalists in the state, adding that magnanimity of the CPS in the recent Christmas gifts touched all the NUJ chapels in the state unlike before.
Oyowe, however, asked for the sustenance of the CPS’s goodwill towards the Union and then reminded Chief Ahon of the uUnion’sprevious requests for a bus and generator for the state council.
In the words of the state NUJ Chairman, “Today, we are celebrating. All chapels in the state have been touched by your magnanimity … The food of God is thanksgiving, and we are like God. That is why we said we should not delay. We said we should come and tell you “thank you” for all that you have been doing. May the God we all serve bless you.”
In his response to the state NUJ requests, the CPS promised to follow up on the requests, assuring that his door is ever open to the Nigeria Union of Journalists.
