The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission(EFCC) has been called upon to also go after and arrest as well as prosecute the aides in special positions that allegedly assisted Senator Ifeanyi Okowa during his tenure as Governor of Delta State to allegedly loot the Delta State treasury dry with a view to see that justice is served.

This call was made by Zik Gbemre, a social crusader and activist in Warri in a statement made available to journalists, he said that Senator Okowa’s arrest was long over due to give him the opportunity to account for his reckless pillage of Delta state treasury.

According to Gbemre, “Okowa’s atrocities are numerous. He didn’t steal alone. He used his aides to loot Delta dry till the very last minute he left office. They should all be held and be prosecuted with the appropriate charges. Okowa should pay for his sins and for impoverishing Delta state further. Okowa is not alone. I will not be excited one bit for EFCC holding Okowa until he is appropriately prosecuted.”

Gbemre alleged that Senator Okowa’s mansions in his home town, Owa Alero, Asaba and all over the place were not purchased with his legitimate earnings, adding, “ his allowances and salaries can’t pay for them, his alleged financing of Atiku Abubakar presidential campaigns should be looked into. His alleged connections, contacts with Premium Trust Bank and his fronts should be invited and be prosecuted.”

Gbemre however appealed to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to go beyond media prosecution of Senator Okowa to serve as deterrent to others in position of leadership adding that this Okowa’s issues should not be like other high profile arrests and prosecution by the Commission in the past that did not see the light of the day with justice dully served.

Gbemre added that Okowa was not alone in alleged corrupt enrichment adding, “the mansions, exotic cars and their lifestyles are evidences. Those who didn’t have bicycles of their own before they joined government or appointed are all living in ill-gotten wealth. It is culture of stealing in Nigeria once one is elected or appointed. There are many of them who live on government patronage. They can’t live without pubic money. Okowa was not the only politician involved in alleged corrupt enrichment. “
