FGC, Warri Old Students honour Tidi with honorary class member of 74/76 set

Federal Government College, Warri Old Students Association (FEGOCOWOSA) on Saturday honored Dr Michael Tidi, Chairman of Warri South Local Government Area, with an honorary member of class 1974/76.

Tidi was inducted into the FEGOCOWOSA class of ’74/76 on Saturday 5th February 2022 during the official commissioning of a multi-million naira pedestrian walk way built by FEGOCOWOSA.

Tidi commended the old students of the school for inducting him into the class, even though he was not yet born at that time.

He said it was a great honour and privilege to be part of the great job the old students are doing for the school and the students.

Tidi while speaking to journalists said, “To me, it’s quite encouraging to see our friends and brothers converging here today for this great course..

“It’s a great honor to be inducted as an honorary member of the class even though I was not born when they were here as students. It’s a great honor, a privilege and quiet an humble experience.

“Like I told them early in my speech, let them keep doing what they are doing. It’s a noble course because I believe that God Almighty is going to pay them back and replenish their purses.

“However, like Oliver Twist, there is still a lot that needs to be done for the school.”

On the multi-million naira pedestrian walk way built by the old students of the school, Tidi said the gesture was a laudable one just as he urged all old students of the various schools to emulate FEGOCOWOSA and give back to their alma mata.

“This multi-million naira pedestrian walk way will go a long way in protecting the students from the heat of the sun and the rains and also from vehicles passing through the road.

“Before now students used to walk on the main road where they could easily be knocked down by upcoming vehicles. But this pedestrian walk way will take care of all that.

“I want to thank you, on behalf of the student, for coming back here to give back to you school.

“This gesture, to me, is a clarion call to all of us to go back and give back to our alma mata,” Tidi said.
