Partial removal of oil subsidy, calculated attempt to steal our money for Election purpose– Chief Ikimi

National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (ACN), Chief Tom Ikimi has claimed that the partial removal of oil subsidy by the Federal Government was a calculated attempt by the government to steal Nigeria’s money in preparation for 2015 elections.

Chief Tom Ikim who is the National Vice Chairman, APC South/South, stated this at the first meeting of the All Progressive Congress, South/South, held at the Grand Hotel, Asaba, Delta State.

He also said that cry by the Federal Government that the country was losing billions of naira through oil theft was big lie, adding that the government was just stealing money in preparation for 2015 elections.

He said; “They are stealing money for election. The so called subsidy money is for elections. Now, they are saying that people are our stealing oil, but they are just stealing oil for elections. But they shall account for it when the time comes. I tell you we are up to the task and democracy is now assured.”

Chief Ikimi also revealed that five PDP Governors are working their way into APC, stressing that very soon APC will be in the majority in Nigeria because the new party has come as an alternative party for Nigerians.

“Because of APC some governors in PDP can now breathe fresh air. Five governors are moving around now and challenging them and they can do nothing to them because they have an alternative. Do not say I told you. They are coming to us. We have today eleven governors and that eleven will soon be fifteen, seventeen, and twenty-one and then we shall be in the majority”, Chief Ikimi said.

While lamenting that Nigeria, for too long has been a one party state, Chief Ikimi said that APC was created to rescue Nigeria out of the bottomless pit that it has found itself, adding that the party was the party that God has provided for Nigerians to join the ranks of parties in the world where the opposition parties took over power from sitting governments.

He said; “APC is that party that God has provided for us in Nigeria to join the ranks of parties in the world in a wind of change where the opposition parties have taken over government from useless sitting governments. It has happened in Italy, France, Sierra Leone, Ghana, and Senegal. The next destination of that change in 2015 is Nigeria.”

Chief Ikimi also said that to keep the party in a firm position none of the party members will be given preferential treatment over the other, emphasizing that when the time for registration comes every member of the party would go to his ward to register.

He added that the day of reckoning was approaching for the ruling party “when they shall give a full account of their stewardship. For the past fourteen years, Nigeria has been grossly mismanaged. Nigerians have never known the kind of wealth that God has bestowed on her as has been the case for the past fourteen years.”

“We do not want to put our party in the hands of those who will be going and working for Uduaghan. We have to put our party in the hands of those who will work for us. Opposition party is a long distance race. It is not a quick fix arrangement. We want leaders we want leaders who will work for us selflessly and not leaders who can be bribed by Uduaghan and his crew. I tell you that the future is bright and we have good things,” he said.

He further said that the Minister of Aviation, Princess Stella Adaeze Oduah lied when she said that there was a revolution going on the aviation sector, alleging that she was taking money from her purse to pay contractors.

Chief Ikimi said; “there is one lady who is the Minister of Aviation, she said there is a revolution in airport; it is a lie. The direct labour they are doing, is being done from her hand bag. She removes money from her hand bag to pay; there are no contractors. They are building it with direct labour and there is no security in those airports. Only last week, a little boy in Benin ran into the airport and flew to Lagos in the wheel of an airplane. Is that an airport?”
