Federal Lawmaker empowers Constituents with tricycles, boats, others
The member representing Warri Federal Constituency in the Federal House of Representatives, Hon Thomas Ereyitomi, on Friday empowered members of his Constituency with tricycles, boats, sewing machines and fishing nets worth several millions of naira.
The gesture according to the Federal lawmaker, was part of his zonal intervention and empowerment project for his Constituents.
The items presented to the beneficiaries include 47 tricycles otherwise known as keke, 6 big boats with 40 HP Yamaha engines, 13 small boats with 15 HP Yamaha engines, fishing nets and 20 sewing machines worth millions of naira.
Hon Ereyitomi in his speech at the occasion said, he will remain dogged and purposeful in attracting the dividends of democracy to Warri Federal Constituency.
He said the empowerment will help mitigate youth restiveness and other related social vices in the constituency and add value to the living standard of the people both financially and socially.
While urging the beneficiaries to make good use of the items, Hon Ereyitomi appreciated the support his constituents have been giving him for about two years of representing them in the 9th assembly.
“I am thanking God for helping me fulfill my campaign promises to my Constituents in the Warri Federal Constituency. I am assuring you that more better things will come as I remain focused and determined in delivering quality people’s oriented representation across the three Warri Local Government Areas of our constituency”, he stated.
According to him also; “In order to give Warri youths adequate knowledge and create alternative source of income using modern technical knowledge in ICT, a two (2) days free google training was organized and numerous youths benefitted, over 200 students were enrolled in the National Examination Council (NECO) exams free of charge”.
“We have also enrolled over 200 students for the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) exams free of charge. I also attracted women empowerment grant under the poverty alleviation scheme where 130 women were empowered”, the Federal Lawmaker stated.
In his words also; “I have also sponsored back to school campaign for schools in our constituency. At the floor of the Green Chamber, I recently sponsored a Bill for the establishment of Federal Institute of Fishery Research, Ogidigben which has passed first reading awaiting second reading”.
Hon Ereyitomi disclosed that; “I moved some critical motions in the House for the public good and intervention from Federal Government to our people. I have also attracted the supply of medical equipment worth millions of naira to Ajamimogha Health Center, Ajamimogha, Warri. In no distant time, we will be commissioning 10 water projects spread across the Warri Federal Constituency”.
He therefore appealed to his Constituents to sustain their support for him as they make progress together.
He assured his constituents of his selflessness in restoring the greatness of Warri Federal Constituency as he promised to continuously engage and consult his constituents for better representation.
On his part, the chairman of Warri South council area, Dr Michael Tidi, commended the efforts of Hon Ereyitomi for keeping to his campaign promises.
“We all knew that Hon Thomas Ereyitomi will do great things for his constituency and we have just begun to experience what he is going to do in the coming years,” Tidi said.
Earlier, chairman of the occasion Dr Joseph Otumara lauded Hon Ereyitomi for the Empowerment programme stressing that this was first of it’s kind in Warri Federal Constituency.
