…as Nana College Old Students Association holds Reunion Confab 2022

Joshua Auta, Head of Operations at the Abuja Office of Sifax Group, has charged retirees or those approaching retirement on the need to come to terms with the harsh realities of our times and reinvent their lives to create a comfortable and sustainable standard of living.

Auta, gave this charge in Warri during his lecture titled, “Reinventing your Life” which took place at the Nana College Old Students Association Reunion Confab held at the school premises recently.

He also underlined self- development process on financial knowledge as panacea against suffering avoidable financial reversals.

Also, Dr. Edward Umukoro, a clinical pharmacist with Model Primary Health Centre (MPHC), an SPDC – facilitated platform at Rumuokwurusi, Port Harcourt, Rivers State, in his paper, dealt with aging process in humans.

Dr Umukoro who said aging is a product of accumulation of a wide variety of molecular and cellular damage over time, charged participants to pay attention to such areas as their nutrition, income, stress management, exercises, alcohol consumption and smoking.

He stressed that while dead cells’ regeneration in children occur faster, adults dead cells’ regeneration decreases progressively owing to aging.

Earlier, Michael K. Obodi, National President of Nana College, Warri Old Students’ Association (NACOSA) 1972 – 1986 sets, underlined the efforts being made by his administration to give the association a giant leap forward.

Obodi, who is also a Director in the Ministry of Trade and Investment, Asaba, Delta State, said the efforts of his administration has seen the emergence of Benin and Warri Chapters, adding that modalities were in motion to set up others in places such as Abuja, Lagos, Asaba, Kwale and Ughelli.

He said critical issues like drawing up a constitution or bye-law to guide the operations of the association, fixing time for re-union confab either annually or every two years and a framework for electing new exco including determining their tenure, will be looked at during the Confab.

On her part, Mrs Florence Odiagbe, Vice – President of the association, shared the prevailing sentiments among participants, saying, “The association took a giant leap forward working hard to ensure that 2022 Re- union conference held successfully.”

“Members are looking forward to working for the development of our Alma Mater and encouraging more of our classmates to come on board both at home and the diaspora,” Mrs Odiagbe said.

The premises of the historical Institution which played host to the 3- day Confab was a beehive of activities, all through the programme spear- headed by the 1972-1986 sets.

The confab, while leveraging on current technology through in – person attendance and virtual platform participation, saw participants drawn from both the local scene and the diaspora.
