The Concern Ilaje Coastal Communities Trust Foundation (CICCTF), an umbrella body of Ilaje Coastal Communities and a stake holder in the Export Processing Zone (EPZ) project, has lauded the steps taken by the Delta State Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan to avert a fresh media war between the Itsekiris and the Ijaws in the state.

In a press statement signed by, Prince Abayomi Ogunfeyimi and Edanisan Ojajuni, Chairman and Secretary respectively, and made available to newsmen in Warri, the group said; “We want to praise the effort made so far by Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan in bringing peace between the Itsekiris and the Ijaws over the EPZ project. We are also appealing to the two neighbours to encourage the Governor’s peace effort over the project.”

The group noted that the EPZ project was in line with President Goodluck Jonathan’s initiative for National Transformation agenda and should be viewed by all well-meaning Nigerians, including those in Diaspora, as a step towards resuscitating the Niger Delta region from its present state of underdevelopment on the one hand and building the nation on the other hand.

The group said further that; “We should take into cognizance the situation in the country at this moment. We should endavour to, in our own little way, contribute to the development of the nation and avert the menace of insecurity, especially now that 2015 general election is a few months away.
