Oil Price Crash: Itihwe Solicits Cooperation Of HOSTCOM

WORRIED by the unabated oil price crash, Chief Amos Itihwe, DESOPADEC Commissioner representing Ughelli South, Udu, Uvwie and Urhobos of Warri South, at the weekend solicited for the cooperation of members of HOSTCOM in Delta Central.
Speaking while donating wireless amplified microphones, computer and printer to HOSTCOM, Delta Central for administrative use, Chief Itihwe said times are hard, no thanks to the low price of crude oil in global market and implored members of the body to show common level of cooperation.
Things, according to him are no longer the way they used to be, saying that; “We need your understanding; it is really difficult for us to carry out our duties, developmental projects are being affected by the low price of oil”.
He added that; ” We are faced with numerous challenges right now as a result of lower oil prices and this is why I am appealing to HOSTCOM in my mandate area to show common level of cooperation with the administration of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa because at the moment, things are not easy because of falling oil prices.”
But he assured that despite the prevailing situation, DESOPADEC would try hard to meet the needs of the people and promised to partner with the body to ensure proper development of oil producing communities.
He also called on HOSTCOM to key into the existing youth empowerment programmes– YAGEP and STEP.
He pleaded that; “Let us be peaceful always and be patient with the Commission. We will not disappoint you even though things are not easy at the moment.”
On the donated items, Chief Itihwe said; “These items are being donated today to facilitate activities of HOSTCOM; to assist the management of HOSTCOM to do their job in order to also support the State Government and the Commission.”
Responding, Comrade Efe G. Okowurie, HOSTCOM Chairman, Urhobo Nation, expressed gratitude to Chief Itihwe for the kind gesture, saying HOSTCOM was ready to partner with the Commission.
He said; ” You have started very well in the Commission, sustain the tempo. You are doing very well and you are following the path of peace. We are very proud of you and we will continue to work with you and support you”.
Meanwhile, Chief Itihwe has met with the Chief Inspectors of Education of Ughelli South, Udu. Uvwie and Warri South with a view of promoting the educational standard in his mandate area.
He told the Chief Inspectors of Education that; “We want to give out books for your distribution to the various schools. We are interested in seeing that pupils are helped, people who have difficulties in their education. We will help out within the available resources. Let us partner together to give our pupils the best.”
The Chief Inspector of Education for Warri South, Dr Emeshili M.E. while responding on behalf of his colleagues, commended the DESOPADEC Commissioner for the initiative.
He appealed to him to also help the schools with furniture for pupils as he decried a situation where pupils sits on the floor.
He also solicited for operational vehicles and institution of a Scholarship scheme.
