Operatives of the Department of State Security (DSS) had laid siege to the Asaba residence of journalist and social critic, Mr. Amour Udemude.
Mr. Udemude told journalists that the DSS operatives stormed his residence as early as 7:am in the morning on Tuesday, October 22, 2019.
According to Mr. Udemude,”as I speak with you now, my residence is besieged by DSS officials in Delta State. I don’t know why they’re here. But I learnt they had called for reinforcement. I’m holed up in my apartment. I don’t know what’s really happening.”
It was not clear as of press time why they surrounded his compound but a source said it is may not be unconnected to a petition written against him.
Mr. Udemude who hails from Ikpide-Irri community, Isoko South Local Government Area of Delta State have been in the forefront of the campaign against the reported N763 million alleged ‘substandard road project’ in his community.
It was not immediately clear if the offensive against him was as a result of the road project campaign.
Mr. Udemude later posted on his facebook page that his residence has been locked down by the security operatives.
