Don’t Be A Sectional President- Uduaghan To Buhari

The Delta State Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan today implored the President-elect, General Mohammadu Buhari not to be a sectional president, but urged him to carry all parts of the country along, stressing that the Niger Delta region should not be neglected.
Governor Uduaghan made this call at his residence in Warri while addressing newsmen on the way forward for the state.
He called on the President-elect not to neglect the Niger Delta region, saying that he should be magnanimous in victory and carry all Nigerians along in the course of governing the country.
Uduaghan said: “Buhari should rule the country as his constituency, not only APC States. He should carry the south south States along in terms of projects and programmes. We wish him well as he takes over the mantle of leadership.”
Governor Uduaghan thanked President Goodluck Jonathan for congratulating Gen. Buhari even before the elections were announced, stressing that that singular action of President Jonathan has brought peace to the whole country.
He congratulated General Mohammadu Buhari (Rtd.) and the Delta State Governor-elect, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, just as he called on all candidates that contested in the elections to accept the results of the elections in the interest of peace.
The Delta State Governor said the victory of the People’s Democratic party in the state at the just concluded elections, has affirmed that the state is still a staunch PDP state, adding that the future off PDP in the country is still very bright.
He said: “The defeat was glaring because PDP campaigned in all parts of the state unlike other parties. We campaigned in all the nook and cranny of the state. I also want to use this medium to congratulate Okowa for the victory. I pray that he remains magnanimous in victory and carry everybody along. He has assured me that he will carry everybody along.”
The Governor emphasized that despite the lose of PDP at the national level, PDP is still strong enough to rise up again, adding PDP has a lot to offer the country. He said knew that the incoming administration is already mapping out places to work on in the state, urging on all Deltans to support Okowa’s administration.
He said a lot of commissioning of projects will be going on before May 29, adding that he was already preparing his handing- over notes in readiness to hand over to the new government.
Governor Uduaghan said the commissioning of projects across the state was his own way of saying thank you to Deltans for supporting him throughout his administration, just as he commended Deltans for conducting themselves peacefully during and after the just concluded election.
He said Deltans will remember him for the roads, flyover bridges in Asaba and Warri, the airport, and man other wonderful things he has done for the state.
He thanked the press for their support, saying that without the press his administration would not have achieved the milestones it has achieved.
