DESOPADEC: Okotie-Eboh Hails Okowa Over New Board
By Our Correspondent
The Chairman, Itsekiri Development Congress (IDC), Mr Emmanuel Okotie-Eboh has hailed Governor Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa for the recent constituted board of Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC).
Mr Okotie-Eboh, in Warri also called on political leaders to emulate the Governor.
He said; “We are elated with the composition of the new board of DESOPADEC. We are using this medium to call on political leaders to emulate Governor Okowa and Hon Reyenieju for the tradopolitical method of consultation of traditional institutions before taking decisions affecting the people in their kingdoms and by doing that it will help in reaching the grassroots faster; this was one mistake made by some past administrations.”
According to him; “The traditional rulers know the needs of their people and also know persons suitable for appointments in their kingdoms, this is like having a community police as the people know themselves. The days of political carry go are over and so the Governor should constantly carry our royal fathers along in order to achieve his goals for the people; if they are pushed aside, selfish politicians will have a field day who will tell you that they can also get to the river root, not only the grassroots and so we commend the Governor’s tradopolitical system of governance which we in IDC have been advocating for in Itsekiri nation, this is now paying off .”
“The songs will no longer be the same again by the grace of God. We are pleased with the Governor for the introduction of this system of government that brought Engr Victor Oritsetimeyin Wood, Chief Thomas Ereyitomi and Hon Godwin Ebosa on board of DESOPADEC and we use this medium to felicitate with them on their well deserved appointments.
“Lastly we are calling on the Governor to put the right peg in the right hole to make things work out well because we need results,” Mr Okotie-Eboh said on behalf of other members of the IDC.
