DESOPADEC ANNOUNCES PLANS FOR BURSARY PAYMENTS

The Board of the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC), presided over by the Chairman, Olorogun John Nani has approved the bursary disbursement to students across all its ethnic nationalities as part of its proposal for 2025.
The managing director, Chief Festus Ochonogor disclosed this today when speaking with newsmen after a crucial Board meeting at DESOPADEC corporate head office, in Warri.
Chief Ochonogor also stated that measures such as opening a website and engaging with stakeholders are been put in place to ensure its smooth operation.
He added that the enrolment process for the sixth batch of DESOPADEC Skills Academy will commence shortly following the success of the fifth Batch.
He further disclosed that the Board had resolved to intensify its efforts toward project execution in all its mandate areas.
“We will intensify inspection of projects executed, and follow up on contractors to ensure they comply with the specifications, designs, and standards approved to them.”
“Monitoring of these projects is key to the Board as DESOPADEC is about the infrastructural development of our oil-producing communities, in synergy with the MORE Agenda, he said.
Speaking on staff welfare, the Managing Director stated that the Board had agreed to re-evaluate the 2024 promotion exercise to review workers who were eligible for promotion but were not promoted.
“The welfare of our workers is very important to us; we are fully committed to improving the welfare of our workers. The Board has resolved to review the last promotion exercise to ensure all eligible staff are promoted.
“We have implemented the new minimum wage as approved by the state government and in December, paid all leave allowances to our workers. We have a functioning medical center and the Board has on several occasions aided in the medical expenses of our staff. Workers and management are partners in progress.
“This Board runs an open-door policy where we fully address the needs of workers within our means and with the required speed necessary at all times. We are open for dialogue to clear any dispute that arises.” Chief Ochonogor said.
