Delta PDP Records Another Feat As More APC Stalwarts Dump The Broom
LESS than 48 hours go the local government council elections in Delta State, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has recorded a haul of decampees from the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) with the State Governor, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa assuring that his administration will not relent in providing good governance.
An Elder and one of the major financier of the APC in the State, Chief Felix Anirah yesterday (04/01/18) moved the remaining crop of members of the APC to the PDP at a “special reception rally” held in Sapele, saying they were tired of the APC.
Governor Okowa who accompanied the Chairman of the PDP, Barr. Kingsley Esiso to receive the decampees, observed that the return of Chief Anirah to the PDP, was “the return of a big fish.”
He commended those who contributed to the return of those who left the PDP for other political parties, asserting, “We cannot lose sight of the fact that it is political party that brought us to where we are today, so, we will continue to welcome our members back to the umbrella party.”
“We will continue to work for our people, you should ensure that you go out on Saturday to vote,” the Governor said.
Chief Anirah at the event, said it was a home-coming for him in the PDP, disclosing that the national chairman of the APC, Chief Odigie Oyegun tried to dissuade him from going back to the PDP but, he said there was nothing left for the APC to offer him.
“Before I came here (to this special rally for me to formally dump the APC), APC national chairman called me and I told him that since APC is no longer convenient for me and my people, we are moving back to our party, the PDP. We will test our strength on Saturday during the local government council elections , the APC will not get any Councilllorship seat, but, the victory will be repeated in the general elections so that all will know that PDP is fully in control of Delta State,” the former APC chieftain said.
Chief Paulinus Akpeki at the event, observed that with the return of Chief Anirah to the PDP, there is no more opposition in the State, especially in Sapele.
Chairman of the PDP in the State, Barr. Kingsley Esiso observed that with the return of the leader of the APC in the State to the PDP, “there is no more elements of opposition in the State.”
Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori was among dignitaries who attended the ceremony.
