By Our Correspondent
THE Chairmain, Itsekiri Development Congress (IDC), Mr. Emmanuel Omosho Okotie-Eboh has hailed the emergence of the new leaders of the National Assembly, saying the 8th National Assembly was for nobody but for everybody. While saying that the emergence of the new leadership of the National Assembly was divine, he gave President Muhammadu Buhari a pat on the back for accepting the outcome.
On Tuesday, June 9, 2015, Senator Bukola Saraki of the All Progressives Congress (APC) was returned unopposed as Senate President Senator Ike Ekweremadu of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) as Deputy Senate President, Yakubu Dogara of the APC emerged as Speaker House of Representatives and Lashan Yusuf as Deputy Speaker.
Reacting to the development, the IDC boss, said it was a welcome development.
He said “The people wanted a change, not just change at the top, but a total change in the system and that is exactly what we are all witnessing; it is not that somebody is making the magic, buty it is the Lord that is using the people to do the magic for the nation and the people, not any godfather or godmother, but it is the Lord’s doing and it is marvelous in our eyes.”
According to him also; “The outcome of the election of Saraki, Ekweremadu, Dogara and Yusuf will help President Buhari to practialize the principle of his historic inaugural speech of I am for nobody, but for everybody and it goes to show too that power belongs to God and the people.”
The era of godfatherism, Mr. Okotie-Eboh said, was gone for good adding that “It also shows that the people wanted Governor Okowa of the PDP as Governor of Delta State and President Buhari of APC as President and they voted for them and so no human should claim victory; it is the will of the Almighty Father and the people because He performs miracles through the people. Our country is moving forward by the day. The 8th Assembly is for nobody, but for everybody. The structures now support performances.”
