A Chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and former chairman of Ethiope West Local Government Council, Dr. Odafe Wilson has said that Delta North Senatorial District has no moral right to agitate for the governorship seat of the State.

Dr. wilson omene

Omene stressed that the governorship seat of the state should be rotated between the people of Delta Central and South senatorial districts.

The former Council chairman who spoke to the press at his country home in Mosoga recently, noted that Delta North was benefiting more than 80% of the dividends of democracy in Delta State in spite of the fact that  it is a minority area that was wrongly placed in the state.

“They (people of Delta North) only have the constitutional right to agitate for the governorship of Delta State but they do not have the moral right to agitate for the governorship of Delta State under the principle of equity,” he said. “I do not see Ukuani people as Delta North because they were wrongly placed in the senatorial district.”

Omene in the explosive media chat further said that, “we must define equity as it is and not as it suit us. Equity is the totality of the values of democracy.”

While suggesting  that the Delta State governorship seat be rotated between Delta Central and South ,he however noted  that the governorship seat was first occupied by Delta Central and that it is  presently being occupied by Delta South and therefore it be occupied by Delta Central in 2015.

Omene also took a swipe at Urhobo politicians working for the governorship aspirants of Delta North, describing such politicians  as unpatriotic ,warning that they were attracting curses to themselves and their families.

Omene who hailed the Urhobo PDP governorship aspirants who have so far shown interest in the governorship race called on Urhobo Progress Union (UPU) to urgently screen the Urhobo governorship aspirants in order to reduce the number to one , advising that UPU should also appeal to governor Uduaghan on the issue

While advising that the Urhobos should not vote for the opposition, the marine engineer cum politician stated that the winning formula of PDP in the Delta State 2015 governorship contest is by fielding an Urhobo as its candidate.

  1. Wilson Omene is an enemy of Democracy and a tribalist. Delta North probably has more population than Delta Central and or, Delta South. What the hell is this idiotic Omene yapping about? Why must any part of the state be excluded from producing the governor of the state? Wilson Omene must have a brain disorder. Delta North must not fold its hands and watch “minority” Urhobo marginalize them. That will be a big shame on Delta North. Is Omene trying to live up to his “Urhobo Wayo” name? We are watching the scene.
