Eradajaye Secondary School Holds Inter-house Sports Competition

It was day worthy to be much remembered as the students of Eradajaye Secondary school Adagbrasa – Ugolo gathered in their numbers to witness the 2015 annual inter-house athletic competition.

The programme showcased activities such as sack race, spoon race and many others .In a brief speech the Principal, Mr. Akpomudje David said, sport activities have brought mutual understanding and cooperation between nation, cities and villages, “sport brings financial gain to both the participants and host countries especially world cup and Olympic Games, even nations that are at war with each other often come together to perform and exhibit their physical talent in sport.”

He however, highlighted some basic facilities that the school lacks which are necessary for the overall development of the child education, which includes seats for students, science laboratories, library, toilet, sport Equipment, Jerseys for the school, male / female team, pipe borehole water and tables and chairs for teachers. He however appealed to the state government, companies and well-meaning individuals to come to their aid.

Akpomudje also used the occasion tocommend the executives Governor of Delta State, Dr. Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan for the massive renovation work done on the school building. On his part, the Community Chairman, Prince Comrade Adibu Napoleon, patron of Blue House Maintained that, without sport, intellectuality acquired by students will be useless, because sport promotes oneness, unity and team spirit amongst students. He applauded the principal and the school for deciding to embark on this year’s inter house athletics event, “under the present poor condition of the school environment, this is a welcome development for the school.

Comrade Adibu, called on the State Governor to urgently do more to uplift the state of Adagbrasa- Ugolo School as this will in turn develop the community,

Stressing that, for over eight year now, there is no Electricity in the community, no markets and no good portable water for them to drink, “Imagine, a community were the late General Aziza Newton UPU President General is from has been abandoned and denied of social amenities.”

Earlier in his address chairman of the occasion, Hon, Chief (prince) Amb. Godwin Eguriase Ejinyere, the executive Chairman of Okpe Local Government Area, Delta State, said there is no doubt that Sport activities are vital for physical and health development as many star have been raised in Nigeria from inter house athletics game. He thanked the school for organizing the programme and promised to support the school to achieve its goals.
