Cleaner Environment: Tidi lauds Warri South council Task Force on Beatification
Chairman of the Warri South Local Government Area, Dr Michael Tidi on Friday commended the Council’s Task Force on Beautification set up three months ago, for a job well done.
The council chairman gave this commendation in Ubeji when the Deputy Leader of the Warri South Local Government Legislatures Arm, Hon Oris Eyekimi, led other councilors, the chairman and his Vice on a tour to assess the level of work done so far by the task force.
Some of the places visited by the chairman include, Robert Road, Ibo market, Maciver market, Estate Roundabout, Okere market, and Ubeji community.
Tidi who expressed satisfaction over the efforts of the Task Force declared that the he is extending the tenure of the task force for another three months to enable them finish the work they have been given to do.
He said, “As you can see for yourselves, we have gone round the council and I can say that we are very happier with what we are seeing.
“They have been able to restore traffic in the mandate areas and they have been able to relocate most makeshift shanties in the council area from drainages areas except for some few areas where we have now giving them a 14 days ultimatum to relocate.
“On behalf of the council I want to say that we are happy with the effort of the task force on beautification set up three months ago” Tidi said.
He commended members of the Task Force for their commitment to duty despite the limited funds that was given to them.
He also commended various communities in the Council that have been cooperating with the task force to make their work easier.
Tidi, however, appealed to residents living in the council to cooperate with the council and help it achieve what they have set out to do.
“While commending the task force for their efforts, there are other areas they need to improve on because there are a lot of work to be done.
“Going forward, I want to give them another three months to continue with this good effort of theirs.
“This time around, I want them to lay more emphasis on the sweeping of our roads and the paintings of our roads. You will agree with me that if you want to improve on the aesthetics of Warri South council, you cannot ignore these areas because these will equally create jobs for people,” Tidi said.
