BAYELSA GOVT PLEDGES SUPPORT FOR NDDC BOARD

Bayelsa State Governor, Hon. Seriake Dickson has expressed the government’s desire to continue to encourage and support the laudable programmes and projects of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC in the state.

Governor Seriake Dickson stated this during the inauguration of the Youth Corpers apartment complex, built by the NDDC at Otuoke,  in Ogbia Local Government Area of the state.

While describing the activities, programmes and achievements of NDDC as a revolution, he commended the present Board for their encouragement and support for the Nigerian Youths.

According to Gov. Dickson, “the NYSC has helped to introduce Nigerian Youths to know about other parts of their country, I wish to also commend the corps members for your sacrifices and hard work to ensure in making Nigeria even greater.

“Bayelsa is a peaceful and loving state, and I expect you to make this place your home even as I enjoin the Otuoke community to continue to be peaceful and support the corps members in your midst”.

In his keynote address, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the NDDC, Sir Barr. Dan Abia, promised that, the present board of the NDDC will complete all ongoing projects in the Niger Delta States.

He described the corpers apartment complex as the first of its kind in Nigeria, noting that, the edifice has 44 air conditioned rooms and a sporting facility.

The State Coordinator of the NYSC, Anthony Ekeocha, expressed appreciation to the NDDC for completing and commissioning the edifice, while also promising to put the edifice into good use.

He also outlined some challenges confronting the State NYSC, to include inadequate accommodation for corps members and appealed for the provision of an electricity generating set for the new complex.

Chief Moses Otazi, deputy paramount ruler of the Otuoke community commended the federal government and the NDDC for embarking on the project, while enjoining the corps members to make good use of it.

The paramount ruler used the occasion of the commissioning to appeal to the NDDC to complete the internal roads, building of ultra modern market and drainages in the community to reduce flooding within the premises.
