According to High Chief Pondi, “since our engagement by NNPC Limited in August 2022, Tantita has worked closely with government security agencies, most notably the Nigerian Army, to combat oil theft, pipeline vandalism and related economic sabotage.
He said that the commissioning of the projects goes beyond physical structures, representing investment in people, capacity and operational readiness, adding, the projects which commenced in August 2025, was completed in record time, demonstrating what can be achieved through synergy.
He appreciated stakeholders including the Office of the National Security Adviser, NNPCL, the Nigerian Army, Navy, Police, DSS, Civil Defence Corps, host communities and Tantita staff for their support.
Commissioning the projects, Man. Gen. Emmanuel Ejim-Emekah, General Officer Commanding (GOC) 6 Division, Nigerian Army said that Nigeria’s crude oil production has continued to witness improvement through sustained collaboration between the Nigerian Army, Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited and other security partners.
Maj. Gen. Ejim-Emekah said improved security of critical national assets, particularly oil and gas infrastructure, has been a major factor driving the gradual rise in crude oil output.
He said that partnerships with credible private-sector operators such as Tantita have significantly strengthened the capacity of troops to combat oil theft, pipeline vandalism and other forms of economic sabotage in the Niger Delta.
According to Maj. Gen Ejim-Emekah, “Tantita is doing a lot in support of 6 Division. They are not only active in Delta State, but also extending their interventions to Rivers and Bayelsa States. Recently, without being compelled, they undertook another major project for us in Port Harcourt.”
Maj. Gen. Ejim-Emekah recalled that when he assumed office January 24 last year, one of his first visits was to Warri, where he was dissatisfied with the state of some military facilities.
He added, “what I saw then was not befitting of an operational infantry battalion. Even company headquarters in some places were better. I told the Commanding Officer that if nothing else was done, the outlook of the headquarters must change.”
He expressed delight that the guidance had been translated into tangible results with the completion of the new and well-furnished Sector 1 and 3 Battalion Headquarters.
The GOC said the quality and functionality of the projects reflect a clear understanding of Command responsibility and the link between welfare, sound administration and operational effectiveness.

The General Officer Commanding 6 Division spoke further, “these facilities will significantly enhance command and control and make administration easier. This commissioning is a reflection of purposeful leadership and value addition by the Sector Commander.”
He also recognised senior officers who trained and mentored many of those in attendance, as well as the families of serving personnel, adding, “our mentors from the Nigerian Defence Academy moulded us into what we are today. I also recognise our wives because behind every successful officer is a supportive family. They have not allowed us to fail.”
The project was conceptualised by the Commander, 63 Brigade and Sector 1 JTF OPDS, Brigadier General M.A. Shonibare, and Commanding Officer, 3 Battalion and executed as part of Tantita’s corporate social responsibility and we are grateful to them.
The ceremony drew senior military officers, representatives of sister security agencies, community leaders and other stakeholders, underscoring the growing impact of private-sector participation in strengthening national security and boosting Nigeria’s oil production.
