BAMACO celebrates mother’s day in style
By Harriet Anetor
Bishop Agori- Iwe Memorial Anglican Church Ovwodawanre (BAMACO) recently joined the rest of the world to celebrate mother’s day in grand style.
In a brief Sermon Rev. Israel Okorodudu, who spoke through the Vicar/Archdeacon Ven. Johnson O. Okpako (JP); said “a day like this calls for celebration, but we may ask ourselves if we are ready to die with Christ on the cross, as Mary the mother of Jesus Christ was ready to do on the day he was crucified. All the women present were weeping for Christ as mothers hate to see their children suffer pain. They will rather take the place of the child because that is how deep a mothers love for her children runs.”
According to him, a good mother always takes care of her home, children, does not have two husband, prays all the time and is not known by wearing white garment on mother’s day but by her words, action, thought and deed which also applicable to fathers, when we celebrate father’s day.
He cautioned the mothers to be submissive to their husbands, charged the husbands to love and respect their wives, stressing that couples of this days do not tolerate each other anymore because of the love of money, “they have forgotten the role and place of Christ in their marriage, no wonder Jesus Christ said please do not cry for me but, cry for yourself.”
This year’s celebration was marked with cultural displays, short drama and special thanksgiving offered to God by the women and the entire church.
