The Delta State All Progressives Congress (APC) and it’s governorship candidate, Olorogun O’tega Emerhor yesterday paid a courtesy visit to the Executives of the Urhobo Progress Union (UPU) under the leadership of Chief Tuesday Onoge, promising to support and promote the Urhobo interest.
Speaking at the visit, the APC Chairman, Prophet Jones Erue said the party decided to pay the courtesy call to the Chief Tuesday Onoge led executive of the UPU because they believed the He is fighting the course of Urhobo nation, adding Chief Onoge is an upright man who believed in the progress of the Urhobo nation.
Prophet Erue noted that they were there to thank Chief Onoge for standing for the truth despite all odds, saying that Chief Onoge is a man of integrity who believes in justice and fairness.
The Delta State APC Chairman added that APC will continue to recognize the Chief Tuesday Onoge led executive of the UPU and that they will also continue to support his administration. He commended Chief Onoge and some few men who stood up to say they will fight for the Uwiamuge declaration, saying their actions have proven that they are honourable men.
He said Olorogun Emerhor is a man who has come to transform Delta State from the hands of the ruling party who he said have continued to plunder the wealth of the country while leaving the people in abject poverty.
The gubernatorial candidate of the APC, Olorogun O’tega Emerhor in his speech also thanked Chief Onoge for standing firm on his ground to support the Uwiamuge declaration, saying that his action has shown that Honourable men still exist in Urhobo nation.
Emerhor urged the UPU leaders to reach out to other ethnic groups in the State, saying that only Urhobo votes cannot take him to government House, Asaba.
While saying that He has all it takes to take the State to the next level, Olorogun Emerhor noted that people all over the country are clamoring for a change in government because the ruling party has pauperized the people to the extent that they now needed a breath of fresh air.
He also revealed that the reason why PDP postponed the election was because they were afraid of loosing the elections because they had seen the handwriting on the wall.
The APC gubernatorial candidate also said that the country can only develop if the ruling party is kicked out of government, stressing that PDP is the reason why Nigerians are where they are today.
Responding, Chief Tuesday Onoge who thanked APC and Olorogun Emerhor for the visit, said that Uwiamuge declaration goes beyond UPU, adding that the decision to adopt APC and Olorogun Emerhor was the decision of Urhobo nation, noting that what UPU did was just to make a declaration.
Chief Onoge assured APC that the whole Urhobo nation will stand behind it and make sure they become victorious in the next general election. He added that what is happening in UPU was an act of God.
While calling on Urhobo sons and daughters to de-emphasize money bag politics, Chief Onoge urged them to queue behind the candidacy of Olorogun Emerhor and work for the victory of the party.
