Alleged Electoral Killing: Wike’s Govt is Mischievous, Disastrous – Dakuku
By Nwaogu Fauatinus
The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2015 governorship election in Rivers state, Dr Dakuku Peterside has described Governor Nyesom Wike as a “disaster and disgrace” to everything that represents good about the state.
Dr Dakuku Peterside said the latest adventure of the governor to hunt perceived political opponents through phantom recommendation of a Commission of Inquiry ahead of December 10 re-run election in Rivers State is doomed and dead on arrival.
A statement credited to Rivers State Commissioner for Information after s state executive council meeting revealed that the Attorney General had been directed to prosecute APC Deputy Governorship Candidate, HonourableAsita Okorie for the murder of an NYSC member at Akinima in Ahoada West Local Government Area during the March 19, 2016 rerun legislative elections.
The Attorney General was also directed to prosecute the APC House of Reps Candidate for Eleme/Tai/Oyigbo Federal Constituency, Barry Mpigi for the alleged murder of a pregnant woman whose name given as Mrs Baby Nzuuga in Kpite Tai.
However, the 2015 APC guber flag bearer says the latest action of Wike is that of a mischievous, drowning man, clutching at anything that would make him stay afloat. He said playing smart to deceive the public and cover up his own roguery has become Wike’s trademark. “How can anyone in his right senses link Honourable Asita to death of the youth corps member. Everyone in the state knows that Governor Wike was the architect of the killings and mayhem that trailed the March re-run election in the state.
The governor was the one threatening the lives of everybody and crying everyday at every available medium. “How can a governor who orchestrated the mayhem be the judge, complainant and prosecutor in his own case? The actions of Wike are unbecoming of a state chief executive and bringing ridicule to such a revered office,” he stated.
Dr Peterside called on the governor to follow the path of honour and rise to the challenges of governing the state or resign if he lacks the capacity, managerial acumen and temperance to deliver the expected democratic dividends. “What moral justification does Nyesom Wike have to talk about violence? Who introduced violence into the last elections? Who connived with known militants and security agents to rig election in the state? Who has declared amnesty in the state where over 100 AK47 rifles were officially acknowledged? “Has Wike forgotten that in connivance with militants, APC did not campaign in Okrika and Ogu/Bolo local government areas in 2015?
Never in the history of Nigeria has that happened, where citizens are unable to campaign in their own state.
“If Wike has any sense of shame and conscience, he should seek for forgiveness from Rivers people and families of those who were mindlessly killed by his goons. Rivers people are indeed in one-chance of a governor who lacks the capacity to govern the state.
“No amount of propaganda, blackmail and threat will save the PDP from losing the forthcoming re-run election in the state. Rivers people have seen through the brigandage, lies and deceit of Wike’s administration and they shall respond by voting all APC candidates,” he summed up
