Advancing the MORE Agenda in Delta State

By Senator Ighoyota Amori, Ph.D.
Chief Adviser to the Executive Governor of Delta State

As we strive to build a more prosperous, equitable, and peaceful Delta State, it is essential that we work together to advance the MORE Agenda. This comprehensive blueprint for sustainable development and progress focuses on four core pillars:

  • Meaningful Development
  • Opportunity for All
  • Realistic Reforms
  • Enhanced Peace and Security

As the Chief Adviser, we’re poised to provide well-researched advice to the Governor, leveraging his expertise to inform decision-making. He encourages stakeholders to view his office as a valuable link to the government, facilitating the implementation of government initiatives across the state in line with the MORE AGENDA. By fostering collaboration and open communication, the Chief Adviser aims to ensure that the benefits of the MORE AGENDA reach every corner of the state, promoting equitable development and progress.

M.O.R.E Agenda
M.O.R.E AGENDA stands for:

  • M. Meaningful development
  • O. Opportunity for all
  • R. Realistic reforms
  • E. Enhanced peace and security

Meaningful Development
To achieve meaningful development, we must invest in human capital by developing education, healthcare, and skills development programs that empower individuals and communities. We must also foster inclusive economic growth that benefits all segments of society, not just a privileged few. Additionally, we must develop sustainable infrastructure, such as roads, bridges, and public transportation, to support economic growth and improve living standards.

Opportunity for All
Ensuring opportunity for all is crucial to building a more equitable society. We must ensure that everyone has access to quality education, regardless of their background, income, or location. We must also provide access to quality healthcare services, including preventive care, treatment, and rehabilitation. Furthermore, we must create opportunities for entrepreneurship, job creation, and income generation, especially for marginalized communities.

Realistic Reforms
To achieve realistic reforms, we must strengthen institutions, such as the judiciary, legislature, and executive, to promote transparency, accountability, and good governance. We must also ensure that the rule of law is upheld, and that justice is accessible and affordable for all. Additionally, we must promote a culture of meritocracy, where appointments and promotions are based on merit, rather than nepotism or corruption.

Enhanced Peace and Security
In our pursuit of a more peaceful and secure Delta State, we must promote a culture of peace, tolerance, and understanding and support initiatives that build trust and foster reconciliation. We must also strengthen law enforcement agencies, ensure that they are accountable and transparent, and provide them with the resources and training they need to effectively maintain law and order. Furthermore, we must establish mechanisms for resolving conflicts peacefully, such as mediation, arbitration, and negotiation.

Way Forward
Advancing the MORE Agenda requires a collaborative effort from all stakeholders, including government, civil society, private sector, and local communities. By working together, we can create a more prosperous, equitable, and peaceful Delta State. Let us join hands to build a brighter future for ourselves, our children, and generations to come.
