Ogbanabou Communities Insist on Host Rights to Kalm Marine Petroleum Services

By Francis Sadhere Warri
Warri, Delta State – The Ogbanabou Federated Communities of Diebiri Clan in Warri South West Local Government Area have declared themselves the rightful host to Kalm Marine Petroleum Services, dismissing claims by the Izansa/Ijelejele/Ikeremor community in Ogbe-Ijoh.

In a press statement signed by Chairman, Mr. Alex Ebi Fenimine, and Secretary, Mr. Anthony Ikpelagha, and presented to newsmen, the community leaders refuted what they described as a false claim of ownership of the company’s operational base.
Reacting to a press briefing by the Izansa/Ijelejele/Ikeremor group led by Chief Akoubodo, Mr. Fenimine maintained that the land on which Kalm Marine operates belongs exclusively to the Ogbanabou Federated Communities–Diebiri Clan.
He stressed that the communities would not cede “any portion of their land” to their rivals.
According to the Ogbanabou leaders, the Izansa/Ijelejele/Ikeremor community is located over 200 kilometers away from their territory, making their claim “baseless and provocative.”
They urged the management of Kalm Marine to withdraw from any agreements with the rival community to avoid disruption to operations.
The statement also reminded the company of an earlier peaceful protest held on June 26, 2025, during which an ultimatum was issued for Kalm Marine to meet its corporate social responsibility obligations to the Ogbanabou Federated Communities–Diebiri.
The leaders further demanded the full implementation of the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) with their community.
Prominent figures who spoke at the press briefing included Engineer Dickson Ogugu, Chief Jacob Nadifa, Chief Joseph Igbelegbele, Elder Smart Nadifa, and Mrs. Onome Amalade. They urged the company to deal solely with the community’s executive, led by Mr. Fenimine, in the interest of peace.
The leaders appealed to the Delta State Government to intervene in the matter to forestall any possible crisis between the two communities.
