Renowned Niger Delta environmentalist and Ijaw leader, Chief Comrade Mulade Sheriff, PhD, has congratulated the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, on his emergence as Chairman of the Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures in Nigeria.
In a press statement issued in Warri on Wednesday, Chief Mulade described Guwor’s election as well-deserved, noting that his unanimous emergence during the extraordinary session of the Conference held in Abuja on Monday reflected the high level of confidence reposed in him by his colleagues across the country.
Mulade, who holds the traditional title of Ibe-Sorimowei of the ancient oil-rich Gbaramatu Kingdom, said Guwor’s return unopposed was a testament to his sterling leadership qualities, integrity, and track record of service. He pointed out that Guwor had demonstrated competence and maturity in his previous role as Treasurer of the Conference since 2023.
According to him, the Delta Speaker has consistently exhibited strong administrative capacity and a consensus-building approach to legislative leadership, earning the respect of fellow lawmakers nationwide.
The Ijaw leader further stated that Guwor brings to his new position a wealth of legislative experience, effective stewardship of the Delta State House of Assembly, and sound financial management skills. He added that Guwor’s ability to foster unity across political and regional divides would strengthen inter-legislative collaboration and promote institutional reforms at the sub-national level.
Mulade expressed optimism that under Guwor’s chairmanship, the Conference of Speakers would witness renewed vigor, progressive policy engagement, and strengthened advocacy for legislative independence and development-driven laws across the country.
He wished the new Chairman a successful tenure and assured him of the continued support and goodwill of stakeholders in Delta State and the wider Niger Delta region.
