BUDGET TEAM CHARGED TO MAKE PROVISION FOR WATER SUPPLY

The budget team of the Ministry of Water Resources has been told to make appropriate provision in the 2018 budget to ensure adequate supply of potable water in the State.
The Commissioner of Water Resources, Mr. Nengi Tubonah gave the charge in a One-day workshop on the Review of the 2017-2019 Medium Term Sector Strategy (MTSS) Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) and the preparation of 2018-2020 rolling plan for Ministries, Department and Agencies (MDAs) in the Conference Hall of the ministry in Yenagoa.
Mr. Tubonah stressed the importance of budget planning for implementation of government projects, stating that the Ministry cannot do without the office of budget and planning to achieve the set goals and objectives of the water sector in the State.
The Commissioner, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mrs. Violet Mamah urged the budget team of the Ministry to do a thorough job to ensure that the water sector is properly positioned to move the state forward.
In her presentation, a budget officer from the Ministry of Budget planning, Mrs. Sarah Roland, highlighted the importance of budget planning for the implementation of government policies and programmes and called on the Ministries and Agencies to prepare their budget plan on time for the smooth implementation of government policies and programmes in the State.
Mrs. Roland used the forum to appeal to the budget team of the Ministry to submit its work to the Budget Office within two weeks for necessary action.
Also speaking, the Head of the planning, Research and Statistics Department in the Ministry, Mr. Ifiemi Ikoko had said his team will do a good work to ensure that the water sector will be properly positioned in order to provide potable water to the people of the State.
In his remarks, the Director of Human Resource Management in the Ministry, Mr. Paul Ogugubeni said budget matters are very important, adding that the Ministry will work with the Budget Ministry to ensure that the expected output will be achieved in the State.
