Southern Delta University Emerges Overall Winner South South, To Represent Zone @ CODET, COREN Abuja 2026

Southern Delta University (SDU), Ozoro has once again demonstrated academic excellence and innovation emerging overall winner at the South-South Zonal Exhibition of the Committee of Deans of Engineering and Technology (CODET) and Council for the Regulation of Engineering (COREN).

This is contained in a statement signed by Dr. Florence Chukwuebuni, Ag Director, Public Relations, Southern Delta University made available to Reformeronline in Ozoro.

She disclosed that emerging overall winner at the South South Exhibition earned the University the prestigious opportunity to represent the entire South-South region at the forthcoming CODET and COREN National Exhibition scheduled for July 14, 2026, in Abuja.

Dr. Chukwuebuni said that the remarkable achievement marks another major milestone in the University’s growing reputation as a hub for technological advancement, engineering innovation, and academic distinction.

She added, “leading this outstanding feat is Anthony Favour Oghenero, a student of the Faculty of Engineering, whose exceptional performance and innovative presentation distinguished Southern Delta University among participating institutions across the South South region.

“Anthony was accompanied to the competition by Prof. Adepoju Tunde Folorunsho, Dean, Faculty of Engineering, whose guidance and commitment continue to inspire excellence and innovation among students of the Faculty.

“The zonal exhibition, hosted by Akwa Ibom State University, Uyo, brought together talented students and institutions from across the South-South region to showcase creative ideas, engineering solutions, and technological breakthroughs.”

She further added, “by securing first position in the region, Southern Delta University has earned the honour of carrying the South-South flag to the national stage in Abuja, where the institution will compete with other regional champions from across Nigeria.”

According to Dr. Chukwuebuni, the visibly elated Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Sunny Awhefeada said , “this outstanding accomplishment reflects the University’s unwavering commitment to nurturing innovation, promoting practical learning, and producing globally competitive graduates.”

“As Southern Delta University prepares for Abuja 2026, the entire university community celebrates this proud achievement and looks forward with confidence to another outstanding performance on the national stage.
