Project Contractors In Delta Get Marching Order To Speed Up Work
Contractors handling major projects in Delta State have been charged to speed up the pace of work on the projects in order to accelerate the tempo of Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan’s resolve of finishing strong in infrastructural development in the state.
The charge was given by the Commissioner, Directorate of Project Monitoring, Barr. Peter David
Ekerekosu during an inspect tour of some projects in and around the state capital, Asaba.
Barr. Ekerekosu while commending some of the contractors who were met on site as at the time of the inspection, said that awarding contracts without monitoring always lead to execution of shoddy jobs which ends in waste of scarce resource of government, nothing that the state governor has fully empowered contractors handling such major projects.
He praised the contract Manager of CCC,Engr. Vinod Mathia and Engr. Amina Malouf, project Engineer of the company for the quality of work going on at the Inter-Bau round about fly over road, stressing that such project is a standard job which would remain for posterity to come.
The commissioner and his team who were taken round the ongoing fly over bridge also inspected construction of 10 roads on the both side of the Benin /Asaba express way.
The commissioner was conducted round by some engineers from the ministry in company of the Managing Director of Tratirx LTD who gave a rundown of the streets and roads stating that 560 metres has been asphalted on Emeka/Alana 0.68km street while about 120 meters was remaining while Nwanoyei street of about 420 meters had been asphalted.
According to him, about 0.45 meters NUT road has been asphalted with 50 meters failed and Adigwe street which is 0.46km had been completed. Other roads and streets included F.A. Onwuachi which is 1.4km, frank Ifychukwurah streets, Achala Ibusa which is 2.2km, Oduke road which is 2.3km and contractor was not on site as at the time of the monitoring visit amongst others.
At the construction of Delta State library office which is off Maryiam Babagida Way, Engr. Adeleke Olanrewaju A. of the peculiar consult LTD conducted the commissioner and his team round the complex and expressed his company’s readiness to finish up the construction job before the given time, adding that the job ongoing include tiding, electrical work noting that the job was taken over the foundation stage in the year 2013 and gave assurance that the project would be delivered to the state government by april this year.
Commissioner Ekerekosu, however warned and directed all the constructors who have abandoned their projects to return to site and finish up their jobs as the state governor has done well by mobilizing them.
