Pharmacy Council of Nigeria Approves Increase Of Admission Quota Into Novena University

Pharmacy Council of Nigeria (PCN)has approved increase in the number of prospective students in the admission quota for Novena University, Ogume, Delta State for its Doctor of Pharmacy(Pharm. D) programme.
This is contained in a letter of approval signed by Pharm. Ibrahim B. Ahmed, Registrar, Pharmacy Council of Nigeria(PCN)made available to Reformeronline, the Council
approved an increase in the University’s admission quota from its previous capacity to 120.
According to the letter, “the admission quota increase is as a result of a comprehensive verification, monitoring exercise and a positive assessment carried out by the Council on the Faculty of Pharmacy.
“We acknowledged the University’s substantial investments in modern infrastructure, academic facilities, and qualified personnel. The approval also aligns with the Federal Government’s drive to expand the training of healthcare professionals to strengthen Nigeria’s healthcare system.”
Speaking on the approval, Prof. Godwin Nduka, Vice Chancellor, Novena University, Ogume near Kwale in Delta State said that with this, the University has recorded another significant milestone that will pave the way for more aspiring Pharmacists to access quality professional education.
Prof. Nduka said that the development is expected to provide greater opportunities for qualified candidates seeking admission into one of the country’s rapidly growing pharmacy programmes while helping to address the nation’s shortage of healthcare professionals.
According to Prof. Nduka, “as the first private university in Delta State, Novena University has continued to consolidate its reputation as a centre of academic excellence, offering fully accredited undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy, Nursing, Optometry, Medical Laboratory Science, Public Health, Law, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Accounting, Business Administration, Mass Communication, Political Science, Intelligence and Security Studies, among others.”
The Vice-Chancellor expressed gratitude to the Pharmacy Council of Nigeria for its diligent regulatory oversight and confidence in the institution.
He reaffirmed the University’s commitment to continuous investment in world-class facilities, human capital development, and innovative academic programmes designed to produce globally competitive graduates.
