Minority Ethnicities Endorse Jonathan for second term
By: Jesse Ese, Yenagoa.
Different minority ethnicities in Nigeria under the auspices of Congress for Equality and Change (CEC) have endorsed President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan to run for re-election in the forthcoming presidential polls in order to continue his developmental strides in the country.
The endorsement came into reality at the Banquet Hall in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital, during the first national summit of the body; chaired by former senate president Ameh Ebute, with the theme ‘National Integration, Stability and 2015 Elections’ on the 26th of January 2015.
The summit which had, at least, two delegates from all states of the federation noted that Nigeria, under President Jonathan, has become a leading hub of trade and investment in Africa with FDI inflow that is exceptionally unrivalled in recent past, and laying a solid foundation for modern Nigeria.
They also noted that president Jonathan symbolises freedom for all minorities and Nigerians; and urged all minority ethnicities to unite and fight for their rights and reject intimidation by those who tend to relinquish their support for him.
While declaring the summit open, the Executive Governor of Bayelsa State, Rt. Hon. Henry Seriake Dickson, stated that the government of the state is pleased with the ideals for which the body was set up. He explained that PDP is the only party that accommodates all irrespective of tribe or religion.
He further stated that Nigeria rediscovered itself with the election of President Jonathan as did America with the election of Barack Obama, urging all Nigerians to collect their PVCs as all the supports which they have assured Jonathan will be brought to nought if they don’t have their PVCs.
Also speaking, Ijaw Leader, Chief E. K. Clark, urged Nigerians to vote for Jonathan, that they are not fighting for him (Jonathan) as a person. According to him, they are fighting for their own freedom, that the situation of Nigeria will be better with the reelection of the president.
In his part, former governor of Bayelsa State, Chief DSP Alamieseigha, urged them all to leave the summit to liberate their minds that they are not minority to anyone.
He noted that there’s so much work to be done as there are some PDP governors who urge their people to vote for them in the governorship elections and vote for Buhari in the presidential polls.
