Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited has commissioned and donated 15 semi-ballistic, glass-reinforced gun boats to the Nigerian Navy and Nigerian Army as part of efforts to strengthen the fight against crude oil theft, illegal bunkering and pipeline vandalism.
The gun boats were officially handed over last Thursday, May 14, 2026 at the Nigerian Navy Shipyard Limited in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, where the vessels were built under a contract awarded by Tantita in line with its commitment to local content and indigenous expertise.
Maj. Gen. E. E. Emekah who represented the Chief of Defence Staff, Special Guest of Honour joined military officials and stakeholders at the handover ceremony. Also in attendance were General Efe Edafioghor (rtd), Ms. Daisy Jaja, Engr. Trevor Chuks Illide, among others.
Speaking at the event, Superintendent of Naval Shipyard, Rear Admiral I. Ubani, commended Tantita for the partnership, describing the project as a boost for indigenous shipbuilding and local content development.
General Efe Edafioghor (rtd), who represented Tantita’s Managing Director, High Chief Engr. Kestin Pondi, said the donation reflects the company’s continued support for securing Nigeria’s critical oil and gas infrastructure.
According to him, the boats, built to world-class standards with a crew capacity of seven, are designed for effective patrol and security operations.
Eight of the gun boats were handed over to the Nigerian Navy, while seven were allocated to the Nigerian Army to strengthen joint operational capacity.
Receiving the vessels, Major General Emekah expressed appreciation to Tantita and assured that the boats would be effectively deployed to enhance security operations.
The ceremony ended with an inspection of the newly commissioned boats, underscoring growing collaboration between Tantita and security agencies in protecting national assets.
