The FOOG Women Support Group for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has held the grand finale of its women empowerment programme, with the Olu of Warri, His Majesty Ogiame Atuwatse III, CFR, urging women to recognise the enormous influence they wield in society.
The monarch stated this on Wednesday when he received members of the group at his palace in Warri, shortly before they proceeded to Uduaghan Hall for the grand finale of the empowerment programme.
The women, who came from Delta North, Delta Central and Delta South Senatorial Districts, paid the courtesy visit to the Olu to seek his royal blessing for the programme.
Speaking to the delegation, Ogiame Atuwatse III said he had been quietly following the activities of the group across Delta State through photographs and videos, commending its awareness and empowerment efforts.
He said the group’s work, particularly its efforts to empower and encourage women, was a worthy contribution to society.
Reflecting on the influence of women, the monarch said women had the capacity to either lift people to greater heights or bring them down, noting their significant roles in families, communities, politics and economic development.
He said: “God has blessed women in such a way that when men decide, they can help a man rise, and when women decide, they can help him go down.”
The monarch added humorously that the only thing he would not want women to do to him was to “make me go down.”
Ogiame Atuwatse III subsequently prayed for the women, asking God to answer their individual prayers and grant their specific needs and heart desires.
He prayed that their travels, sacrifices, businesses, families and investments would continue to produce positive results.
“My prayer for all of you is that the good works you are doing, God is going to answer each and every one of you. All your specific needs, your special needs, the quiet prayers in your heart that you cry to God about, God will begin to show Himself in your lives,” he said.
Earlier, the Director-General of FOOG Women Support Group and Iye of Warri Kingdom, Chief (Mrs.) Esther Okotie-Eboh, said the palace visit formed part of the activities marking the grand finale of the group’s women empowerment programme across Delta State.
She said the programme had been taken to the three senatorial districts, where it recorded massive turnout and success.
According to her, the initiative was aimed at consolidating the successes recorded while mobilising women to support continuity and stability in government.
Okotie-Eboh said FOOG believed in continuity, stability and a better Nigeria, urging the women to remain united and responsibly mobilise the womenfolk ahead of the 2027 elections.
The group is supporting the 2027 re-election bids of President Tinubu and Governor Oborevwori under the Renewed Hope for More Initiative.
At the grand finale at Uduaghan Hall, the Delta South Senatorial District Coordinator of the group, Mrs. Evelyn Ajirioghene Avrc, called on women and other stakeholders in the district to support the continuity of the Tinubu and Oborevwori administrations beyond 2027.
Ajirioghene said the gathering was not merely political but was also aimed at promoting economic empowerment, stability, continuity and the advancement of Nigeria.
She said the foundation being laid by President Tinubu and Governor Oborevwori deserved to be consolidated through continuity in office.
“Today is not a day of telling stories about the good works they have both done. To us at FOOG, we believe in stability, a better Nigeria and moving our nation forward,” she said.
She urged members and supporters of the group to work together and intensify mobilisation for the re-election of President Tinubu and Governor Oborevwori in 2027.
Ajirioghene explained that the empowerment programme was designed to support members in their daily activities and businesses while encouraging them to remain committed to the political movement.
She expressed appreciation to the Olu of Warri for receiving the group and granting them his royal blessing.
She also commended Engr. Felix Omatsola Ogbe for empowering the group and supporting its mobilisation efforts towards the 2027 elections.
Okotie-Eboh similarly commended Ogbe for supporting the empowerment programme and contributing to efforts aimed at improving the welfare and economic capacity of women in Delta State.
She urged the beneficiaries to make productive use of the empowerment items provided to them to improve their livelihoods and strengthen their businesses.
The delegation to the Olu’s palace included Chief Gabriel Awala, Chief Helen Oritshejafor, Chief Brown Meme and Chief Elijah, alongside coordinators and representatives from different parts of the state.
Among those introduced were Mrs. Evelyn Abro, Delta South coordinator, as well as representatives from Warri North and Warri South-West.
The women expressed appreciation to the Olu for granting them an audience, offering prayers and supporting their empowerment initiative.
After receiving the monarch’s blessing, the delegation proceeded to Uduaghan Hall, Warri, where the grand finale of the empowerment programme was held.
