The people of Ilaje communities in Warri South West council areas of Delta State have appealed to the Federal Government to expedite action on resumption of work at the multi-billion-dollar Gas Revolution Industrial Park (GRIP), the Deep Seaport in warri South West Local Government Area and the construction of Omadino/Escravos road projects.
The communities made this appeal in a statement made available to newsmen in Warri and signed by Adekunle Roberts, Allen Ojajuni, Adeyemi Temidunmi, Lucky Ewarawon, Abayomi Ebute,-Iwa, Shina Ighayahan, Chairman, Secretary, Assistant Secretary, PRO, Assistant PRO, and Treasurer respectively.
The communities urged President Muhammadu Buhari to be in sync with the yearnings of the Niger Delta people so as to enable them participate in crucial oil matters as a way to offer and mitigate several years of pain and hardship engendered by the neglect of the zone.
According to the statement, “We are particularly worried about our sons and daughters combing the street of the Nation in search of jobs to no avail. We also lament the precarious negation of qualified Niger deltans in crucial oil matters despite the huge contribution of the zone to the nation’s economy.
“In spite of several hues and cries from the Niger Deltans our communities are still destitute of significant development. It is indeed pertinent to commend all Niger Deltans for still maintaining decorum and equanimity in the face of social economic annihilation.
“However, our penchant for continuous calmness could be encouraged or motivated by the Federal Government through conscious effort to revamp our oil rich communities from the present state of deterioration.”
