Work for Sustainable Peace, Uduaghan Urges Royal Fathers
Royal Fathers in Delta State have been charged to continue in their efforts towards sustaining peace and security of lives and property in their domain for the good of all.
Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan gave the charge at the presentation of staff of office to HRM, Anthony Onwelikwu Ogboli, the Obi of Ejeme-Aniogor Kingdom in Aniocha South Local Government Area of Delta State.
Uduaghan who was represented by his Deputy, Prof. Amos Agbe Utuama (SAN) urged the monarch to justify the confidence reposed in him by his people and the state government in ensuring the maintenance and improvement of high integrity enjoyed by the exalted throne.
He said; “Let me remind HRM, that as father of all you are the symbol of the people’s custom and tradition, including the hub around which the socio-economic life of this community revolves. I wish to advise therefore, that you display selflessness, impartiality and maintain a level playing ground in your day to day administration”.
While congratulating the Obi and Ejem-Aniogor community for a peaceful selection process devoid of bitterness and rancor; he urged them to take advantage of government programmes to boost their output as well as form cooperative societies to enable them access facilities of the state’s micro credit programme.
Uduaghan assured that their request will be channeled to the appropriate government agencies for necessary action, as government is on the verge of reconstructing the Nsukwa-Ejeme-Aniogor road in due time.
He added that the government is irreversibly committed to its vision of Delta beyond Oil, saying that government will continue to ensure fairness, equity and spread in the distribution of projects.
Speaking on behalf of the Obi in council, the Onishe of Ejeme-Aniogor Kingdom, High Chief S.N. Etieh while thanking the state governor for his official recognition of the monarch, said the emergence of Obi Anthony Onwelkwu Ogboli was devoid of any form of contention, rancor or acrimony.
He explained that Ejeme-Aniogor community is an agrarian community engaged in the cultivating of some of the nation’s staple and noted for its peacefulness. He appealed to the Uduaghan administration to reconstruct the road from Nsukwa junction to Ejeme-Aniogor and to Umutu in Ukwuani local government for easy transportation of their farm produce to the cities.
While imploring the royal father to reciprocate the kind gesture by ensuring good governance, and leadership which would in turn enhance the development of the community, the caretaker committee chairman of Aniocha South Local Government Council, Hon. Romanus Mabuogwu in his speech also assured government of continue support by the people of Ejeme-Aniogor.
