O-SECUL Donates Generating Sets, Medical Facilities To Health Centres In Delta
As part of its Corporate Social Responsibilities (CSR) to its host communities, O-SECUL Nigeria Limited, an engineering company and promoter of the Aladja Industrial Energy Park has donated four sets of generating plants and several drugs supplies to four selected health centres in Udu Local Government Area.
The four communities that benefited from the company’s gesture are Aladja, Emadadja, Ogbe- Udu and Ekete Inland.
The Chairman/Chief Executive Officer, O-SECUL Nigeria Limited, Engr. Michael Orugbo who handed over the facilities to the communities in a brief ceremony at the Udu Council Secretariat, appealed to the health centers to make judicious use of the facilities.
He said the gesture was borne out of the company’s desire to touch lives and to make sure that the people have access to medical facilities.
In his words;”Our motivating factor for embarking on this gesture was based on the fact that we are passing through a difficult period and most of our people do not have access to drugs. What we are doing today is just to ensure that we ameliorate the sufferings of the people by making sure that they have access to drugs at subsidised price. We are starting with four health centers today but we believe that other health centers will benefit in the nearest future.
“I want to appeal to the health workers to put these facilities to judicious use. I want to particularly plead with you not to put money first in doing whatever you are doing. Just believe that God will reward you in whatever you are doing,” Engr. Orugbo added.
Engr. Orugbo also told our correspondent in an interview that he was motivated to do what he is doing because he has been blessed by God, adding that the gesture was his own way of giving back to the society what God has given him.
On the Aladja Industrial Energy Park being promoted and developed by O-SECUL Nigeria Limited, Engr. Orugbo said that the Park is an energy based Park and a mixed community that will accommodate heavy industries; Power plant, fertilizer plant, methanol plant, Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, ICT Center, Agro-processing industries, residential estates, etc.
He said, “Having come from this community and having promoted mega projects in other parts of the country in the past, I said why can’t we use the resources and the environment that God has given us to create wealth for our people so that we would be able to have a level of peace in our environment.
“So the park, principally, is going to host a power station and we have signed a Joint Development Agreement for a 740 mega watts power plant that will bring foreign direct investment of about a billion dollars to the state, to Niger Delta and Nigeria in the next two years. In the next five years we are looking at creating jobs for more than 20 thousand people”
Responding, the Acting Chairman of Udu council area, Mr. Macauley Okoshumenye said the items and equipment donated to the health centers will go a long way in upgrading the health facilities in the various centers.
“Engr. Michael Orugbo has been involved in many philanthropic activities and the one we are witnessing today is just one among the numerous gestures he has been doing in the state and the local government in particular,” Okoshunmenye said.
He also added that Engr. Orugbo’s action was a clear testimony of a son that has the progress of his community at heart, adding that government alone cannot be left to shoulder the responsibilities of all.
On his part, the President General of Udu, High Chief Steve Sokoh commended O-SECUL for the gesture calling on all well meaning indigenes of Udu Council Area to emulate what the company has done.
Responding on behalf of the four health centers, Mrs. Matina Onokade, Matron of the Ogbe-Udu health centre, thanked O-SECUL for the gesture, promising to make judicious use of the drugs and facilities
