UVWIE APC CHAIRMAN SUSPENDED; SAYS SUSPENSION DOES NOT FOLLOW DUE PROCESS
Nyerhovw Oghenetejiri
The state executive council in conjunction with Local Government executive as well as Ward executives of the All Progressive Congress (APC) have allegedly passed a vote of no confidence leading to the indefinite suspension of Mr. Joseph Atiyota as chairman of the party in Uvwie Local Government Area over allege anti-party activities just as Mr. Atiyota has said that his purported suspension is the handiwork of “hoodlums and miscreants who wants power at all cost and their action is figment of their imagination.”
According to the letter of suspension made available to our reporter in Effurun allegedly signed by party executive from the state down to the Ward level of the party, “we write to notify you of the resolution of all Ward executives as well as the Local Government exco with respect to the vote of no confidence/indefinite suspension of Mr. Joseph Atiyota as chairman, Uvwie Local Government Area chapter of APC”
They said that Mr. Atiyota was suspended over his alleged autocratic and undemocratic leadership approach of bullying and issuing of threats to members, they also accuse the chairman of alleged incompetence, alleged gross misconduct as well as allegedly single handedly taking decisions without due consultation the party structure.”
The letter reads, “alleged anti party activities by collaborating with other political parties to undermine our great party Article 21A (11). Sequel to the vote of no confidence/indefinite suspension passed on Mr. Joseph Atiyota, we hereby resolve that Article 17(V) be upheld.”
Contacted for his reaction over the alleged suspension, Mr. Atiyota told the Urhobo Voice on his mobile phone that he was on his way to Ughelli to attend the Delta Central meeting of the party, he queried the veracity of their claim saying that how come his alleged suspension did not get the backing of the state executive under Prophet Jones Erhue.
Mr. Atiyota suggested that yours truly should contact the state exco of the party to confirm the veracity of the claims of the Uvwie Local Government Area chapter of the party, adding, “ how can I be on suspension and at the same attend party meetings at the Senatorial District level? So my purported suspension is a figment of their imagination.”
Also contacted is Olorogun Adelabu Ejiroghene Bodjor, a member of the state and Delta central executive of the party who said that the issue was being addressed.
